Growing up in Vietnam, I was surrounded by rhymes. Rhymes on the playground, accompanying us while playing folk games. Rhymes during story times, while my parents, grandparents and relatives recited stories from ages ago. Rhymes about animals, family, life,... They are ingrained in my heart as part of the Vietnamese cultural identity. Living in the US, far away from grandparents, my children don't have the same luxury. My hope is the book will spark some of that joy to our little readers, and instill in them a curiosity about the Vietnamese language and culture. May they start on a cultural journey of their own! The book is bilingual in both English and Vietnamese, illustration is done by six up and coming Vietnamese artists. The board book version, as well as more information is available on our website at shop.tinywrist.com. Unlike other bilingual books where another language is an afterthought, we thought long and hard about how to make both languages accessible to the audience. English translation was made over months of hard work, was proofread by multiple professionals, including the famous novelist Nguyen Phan Que Mai. We want to make bilingual contents fun and accessible to everyone without compromising on the text meaning.
